How about the sense that we seek shared narrative, shared sense-making, as central to relationship? If we can continually push the boundaries of that sharing to wider and wider groups, I think we can dispense with even the ideal of objectivity, and use inter-subjectivity as a perfectly serviceable alternative.

Personally, I feel comfortable when the boundaries of my collective sense-making include those applying scientific method… 🙂
