For sure if you ask a leading question or ask those that think a bit they will agree with you. BUT if you ask most they are very clear. University is to train you to do a job so you can get work. You go there and study your specialism – say medicine, teaching whatever.

Any kind of Classical Athenian wider education is not what they see as relevant. As Universities move more to the 3 year 2 active semester model and then you graduate with a Bachelor degree then that is all about turning out robots for industry.

A different paradigm is hard to explain to these, mostly young people that have come off the treadmill of schooling – where grades are a meal ticket to Uni and this Uni is a meal ticket to a job so that you can earn more money.
