Reality Sandwich’s Perspectives on the Next Age

I’m personally not a big fan of new age interpretations such as the big wait for 2012, purported date for a big change in the fortunes of humanity.

Yet the work of Daniel Pinchbeck, and his Reality Sandwich site, does not use 2012 to create utopian fatalism, but rather as a chaotic attractor for positive social change, and it has become a prime site for thoughtful essays that particularly attrack young readers, and not just the kind that loves psychedelics. Don’t be misled by the announcement below, it has a lot more, such as contributions on peer to peer, open money, and other aspects of contemporary social and political change.

Word is out that an anthology of these writings is on the way:

You’ve dreamed of it, yearned for it, and now it’s finally here! The first Reality Sandwich anthology, Toward 2012: Perspectives on the Next Age (Tarcher/Penguin), will soon be rocking the shelves of bookstores near you. The anthology features many of your favorite contributors and articles covering a diverse array of topics, from shamanism to orgasm, sustainability to Xenolinguistics. It makes for a great post-holiday gift – for yourself, for your mom, and for fellow aspiring evolvers. The official pub date is December 26. Pre-order early and help us get on the radar of bookstores and the larger distributors, and perhaps some media coverage as well.”
