The February issue of OSBR is dedicated to “Commercialization” and is very strong.
I recommend in particular the three following contributions:
1. How Open Source Strengthens Business Models. By Tony Bailetti: the author argues that open source software is NOT a business model, but can be an adjunct to one under certain specific conditions.
2. How Companies Make Money Through Involvement in Open Source Hardware Projects. By Edy Ferreira, Stoyan Tanev: a very good summary of what we know about the topic.
3. Government Transparency via Open Data and Open Source. Jennifer Bell. Focuses on Canada.
