But do you, dear reader, think it is possible to repurpose and extend and improve ~some~ (but not all) of these techniques for ourselves (whoever ourselves may be, those who seek a better system)?

Create a beneficial economic ecosystem (and I do mean ecosystem: in the words of J.K. Gibson-Graham AND Ethan Miller, recently quoted on this blog, “What if we were to see the economy as ecology—as a web of human ecological behaviors no longer bounded but fully integrated into a complex flow of ethical and energetic interdependencies”)?

Those supply chains described above are actually economic ecosystems, but ugly destructive exploitative ones. They are weak and inefficient because all the players are scrabbling to get more of the wealth for themselves.
