The US postal service and public transit are good examples. IMO the government might fund itself more via a “freemium” market model and less on taxes. Of course taxes are still essential for redistribution even if unnecessary for government operations.

Privatization and outsourcing are less about seeking innovation and more about fraud, corruption, and theft.
