There is another way of looking at all of this and i’d suggest that way is through the lens of a marketplace.

yes yes i know – those on the left will hate me for saying it but what we need is a marketplace that clears under used resources and matches them with unmet needs. A marketplace that matches contribution with entitlement and which is based on membership of the common good (have you read ‘the membership economy’ yet? best book i’ve read in ages.).

To cut to the chase i’m talking about a complementary currency that can buy stuff that would otherwise be wasted.

the stuff i’m talking about is a persons time, an empty office, a vacant shop, an unsold bus seat, downtime at the gym.

Think about all that is being wasted.

Think community credits that are earned into existence (unlike bitcoin that is mined into existence and money which is lent) and an ethical amazon and you’ll have an idea about what i mean.

the other thing is that this theory is great but the overwhelming need is to land it with real people in the real world with people that vote trump or brexit.

unless and until that happens it’ll be just more left-wing theory.

Anyhow – not trying to do down your good work as it’s very informative and helpful but we now need a more populist solution that the man in the street can understand and use for their benefit as much as ours.
