Hi Stefan,

there has been a report some months back on the open content economy, arriving at that estimate. I’m on the road now, and it’s a little more difficult to check out the exact reference, but if you fire off an email, I’ll do it as soon as I have some time,

note that the Shanzai economy, the illegal version of open source if you like, is estimated to be an even bigger part of the GDP of China, but I have no idea how they arrived at such an estimate,
