Actually, ACTA and other copyright legislation should not receive the response they are receiving, even from those opposed to them. It’s not a question of curbing excesses to return to an inherently already oppressive (for users and creators alike) regime of copyright “protection”.

The response should be a “Burn Berne” campaign to demand nothing less that the abrogation the international copyright convention, to completely abolish it. Then one can talk about how to protect the rights of creators, not the copyright sharks, the multinationals that hold most of the rights for decades to come but the actual authors, artists, coders and writers…
