I would add another reason for working on a small scale.

A small group can live a long life, because it is flexible enough to adapt constantly, to accept new members and to obtain satisfying results.

At least in Italy, where we do our “small scale” work, politicians have a very short lifetime doing the same job.

This means that we last much longer than they do, know more about things than they do; and since we don’t engage in large-scale polemics about matters we have no power over, we also pass under the radar: nobody dedicates time to trying to destroy us.

This means we’ll be around when time comes for your Reason 5 🙂
