The Top 10 Categories at the P2P Foundation wiki … and the winner is …

I compiled a list of visitor numbers from the topical and resource categories (that excludes the general introductory material in the left column, as well as country and language pages, and individual entries).

The most popular tool is the Encyclopedia, however, thanks the really extraordinary efforts by Valentin Spirik, and this after only just a few weeks of existence, the P2P Audiovisual pages are quickly catching up.

Valentin has built an extraordinary important guide on how to do your own autonomous media production, an aspect which is really one of the keys for the success of the emergence of peer to peer modes, and necessary to break the stranglehold of dumbing down corporate media.

But nevertheless, this might be an occasion to visit our other resource pages as well.

Please also note the total figures: we have had 565,152 page views in our Wiki, and 37,596 visitors came to our main page, roughly since January this year. This means that we have a very long tail and a rather high ratio of pages per visitor.
Here’s the list:

  1. james Says:

over what time duration where those stats collected…over 1 year/month/week/day?
    james

  2. Michel Bauwens Says:

Please not that, since this manual checking is time-intensive, this top 10 only refers to those categories which had more than 100 entries in them.

  3. Michel Bauwens Says:

James, regarding your question: these stats reflect the current situation as of October 23, 2006. It refers to the question: how many people viewed these pages since the start of our Wiki. I started fiddling with the wiki in late November 2005, but really started working intensively on it since January, but many categories were created later, either by myself or by new members on our team.

    Don’t forget the Dutch P2P directory :)
