SCORM: replacing “subject-oriented” curricula with “object oriented” curricula

The following entry is quite technical, but seems important, as it describes a new object-oriented standard for writing textbooks, that would divide learning materials in microchunks ideally suited for eLearning programs and online searching.

However, Sean Fitzgerald, co-maintainer of our P2P Learning Concepts page, informs us that such Learning Objects are controversial and have been debated for several years already. Here‘s an example of a critical conversation.

While supportive of the general concept, Stephen Dowes is very critical of how the educational publishers have hijacked it, see his intervention here.
