‘Clip Kino’ events are self-organised screening events of short video clips & documentaries found online. This social event platform aims to drag aspects of normalised ‘private’ activity – of viewing downloaded content on one’s own computer – into public space for screening, appreciation and debate. ‘Clip Kino’ started in Helsinki, Finland, as singular events with individual curator of clips or small-groups working together to make screening choices.

The video-clip screening event featured in the poster below shared favourites from Clip Kino Finland to a local audience in Chiang Mai, Thailand, including forest videos, music, comedy and internet youth culture.

This event, held in collaboration with the P2P Foundation, is supported by Thai Netizen Network, an Aalto University School of Art & Design research travel grant, and a multi-cultural grant from Arts Council Finland.

You can find the program selection here.

The next event will be held Sat. 18.12. 16.00-20.00, at The Reading Room, 2 Silom Soi 19, in Bangkok!

My attendance in Chiang Mai was the first for me, but I am really charmed by the formula of sharing favourite videos and discussing them together.
